ASME/FDA 2013 Annual Frontiers in Medical Devices
ASME/FDA 2013 Annual Frontiers in Medical Devices: Application of Computer Modelling & Simulation
11-13 September 2013
FDA and ASME cordially invite you to the first Frontiers in Medical Devices conference. This joint FDA/ASME conference will be held in the vibrant Washington, DC area and will provide a forum to discuss strategies to effectively utilize computational modeling and simulation (M&S) in the development and evaluation of medical devices.
In 2012, the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the FDA identified M&S as a strategic priority for advancing regulatory science and medical device innovation. The use of computer models has revolutionized the way medical devices are developed, and can play a larger role in how they are evaluated. This conference is designed to present new research in the field, foster discussion of the barriers to implementation of M&S, and promote the use of modeling for medical device applications.
One highlight of the conference is a tour of the CDRH laboratories on the FDA campus in Silver Spring MD, which offers an opportunity to interact with FDA scientists working to establish computer modeling and bench-test best practices.
Technical presentations and posters are sought which highlight current developments in computer methods and best practices in computational modeling and simulation of medical devices. Join experts from academia, industry, regulatory and funding agencies and clinical practices and share your latest research and clinical discoveries for a stimulating exchange!
