Second International Workshop On Validation of Computational Mechanics Models
A second workshop is announced following the success of the first international workshop on validation of computational solid mechanics models held in Shanghai, China in October 2011. The workshop will include significant discussion periods on issues associated with establishing confidence and credibility in simulation results generated using computational models. The use of simulation data in both design and decision-making will be addressed.
ERWIN HACK (EMPA, Switzerland): ‘Quantifying model qualityusing measured strain fields’
CHARLOTTE WERNDL (LSE, UK): ‘Whatconstitutes evidence and its role in calibration & confirmation’
ALTHEA DE SOUZA (TridiagonalSolutions Ltd, UK): ‘Validation challenges in industrial computational fluiddynamics’
Call for papers:
The submission of two pageabstracts/ short papers on the following topics are invited:
SOLIDMECHANICS MODEL VALIDATION
ACCEPTABLEEVIDENCE FOR ENGINEERING DECISIONS
FLUIDMECHANICS MODEL VALIDATION
Papers should be submitted to the workshop organiser,Professor Eann Patterson at firstname.lastname@example.org by 31st July 2013. Authors ofaccepted papers will be informed by 31st August, 2013.
The workshop is sponsored by EU FP7 project VANESSA and registration will be free.
