DLR Institute of Composite Structures and Adaptive Systems
(Braunschweig, Germany) and Componeering Inc. (Helsinki, Finland)
have signed an agreement for composites software related
collaboration. Componeering develops a general-purpose composites
design software tool ESAComp, which originates from European Space
Agency (ESA) supported work.
Componeering sees that the vast experience of DLR in the composites
technology is a great asset in further enhancing the ESAComp
software. The types of collaboration may include, for instance, the
implementation of DLR developed analysis and design approaches in
ESAComp and utilization of the extensive experimental data gathered
by DLR. The end-users of ESAComp may also benefit from the use of
the accredited DLR test services to obtain material data for design
purposes.
DLR sees benefit in using ESAComp as its standard composite
analysis tool and a development platform for new simulation and
design approaches. The collaboration with Componeering can bring
the new developments faster to the practicing engineers as
integrated and verified software solutions. In the past DLR
developed LamTech software for composite analyses. DLR has decided
to discontinue the development of LamTech and recommends use of
ESAComp as a follow-on tool. The collaboration between DLR and
Componeering ensures that the needs of the current LamTech users
are addressed properly.
Componeering Inc. www.componeering.com
specializes in the analysis and design of high-performance
composite structures. The development of ESAComp software together
with related support services form the core business of
Componeering. ESAComp is software for analysis and design of
composite laminates, sandwich constructions, and structural
elements made of laminates. The usage of ESAComp ranges from
conceptual and preliminary design to analyses of details and post
processing of finite element results. The European aerospace
industry is the biggest customer group for ESAComp, but the user
community is expanding to all industries using composites.
Componeering develops also customized software solutions and
provides consulting in composites design projects.
The DLR Institute of Composite Structures and Adaptive Systems www.dlr.de/fa
provides its services in business segments of composite
lightweight structures, materials and processes development,
simulation tools for lightweight designs, active lightweight
systems and test facilities. The wide range of expertise makes it
the ideal partner for industry, research establishments, ministries
and civil aviation authorities to transfer scientific and technical
know-how in the field of composite structures and adaptronics into
application. The collaborative work with Componeering Inc. stands
representatively for that interaction between research
establishment and industrial partner.
