UGS has announced Version 9.2 of Femap® software, its robust
pre- and post-processing finite element modeling application. Femap
is the finite element analysis (FEA) component of UGS’
mid-market portfolio, Velocity Series™ portfolio, the PLM
industry’s first comprehensive, preconfigured portfolio of
digital product design, analysis and data management software.
Femap Version 9.2 offers in-depth finite element modeling
functionality that allows access to advanced analysis solutions in
a native Windows environment. Femap is also highly integrated with
Nastran, the industry’s leading solver technology, to form a
broad and comprehensive CAE solution.
“One of Femap’s strengths is its CAD and solver
neutrality, which underscores UGS’ open systems
policy,” said Bill McClure, vice president, UGS Velocity
Series. “With this new version, Femap increases its depth of
integration with the Nastran solvers, particularly in regard to
contact and connection support.”
New functionality in Femap Version 9.2 includes powerful assembly
handling capabilities among these other new enhancements:
Automatic surface contact detection for assembly models;
Support of glued surface connection functionality recently released
with NX™ Nastran 4.1;
Consolidation of contact functionality within the user interface
that allows easier definition and access to contact definitions for
all solvers that support contact;
Data mapping that allows results from one analysis to be mapped to
another model of similar topology for subsequent analysis –
e.g. thermal results from a coarsely meshed model mapped to a
finely meshed model for subsequent structural analysis;
Extended surfaces that can handle modeling of weldments or welded
structures
Improved graphics performance.
The first customer shipment of Femap Version 9.2 is planned for the
second quarter of 2006. For more information, visit www.ugs.com/velocity
