Altair Launches New Cost Effective Academic Programme
UK and Ireland Universities integrate HyperWorks into their engineering courses to better prepare students for the commercial world
Altair Engineering Ltd, a leading global provider of simulation technology and engineering services that empower client innovation and decision-making, announced today that it has launched a new academic programme for its HyperWorks simulation platform. Under the initiative, UK and Ireland based academic institutes can gain access to the entire HyperWorks virtual design suite at a fraction of the cost of a standard commercial license for use throughout their undergraduate and post-graduate engineering courses. By expanding the availability of the suite, Altair aim to help equip graduates with the skills, knowledge and practical experience of using an industry standard virtual design toolset needed when entering the commercial environment.
Well established as a leading simulation platform covering pre and post-processing, optimisation, linear and nonlinear solving, multi-body dynamics and data management, HyperWorks is used extensively throughout university engineering courses worldwide. In the commercial sector, the suite of products including industry standards HyperMesh, OptiStruct and RADIOSS, are used by major UK OEM employers including Jaguar Land Rover, Airbus, Ford, Unilever, Bombardier and many more.

As well as being implemented into an increasing number of university teaching programmes, the suite is also being successfully deployed throughout student engineering competitions. The use of HyperWorks in the European Formula Student event for example, has increased significantly in the last two years allowing students to design lightweight, fuel efficient vehicles for the competition while simultaneously giving them the practical experience valued in the commercial world.
