Each year Wilde employs a YINI (Year in Industry) student providing the opportunity for them to gain valuable experience of working for a professional engineering consultancy, and to contribute towards the success of the business.
This year’s YINI student, David Cook, who holds a BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester, is currently working within the engineering consulting team at Wilde. After completing his year in industry David will be returning to the University of Manchester to complete a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. As part of his placement David has been contributing towards various consulting projects under the supervision of Wilde’s Technical Director, John Dennis and will be competing in the Contribution to Business Awards run by the EDT (Engineering Development Trust).
The annual award scheme takes place in eleven UK YINI regions, with all the winners going through to a national final in London in September. David will be competing in the North West region in June and is hoping to impress the judges by demonstrating the difference he has made to Wilde and his learning outcomes. David Cook will be presenting his project on the analysis of ‘12 fluid couplings for ConiTech Beattie’ to a panel of experts. David has contributed to some Computational Fluid Dynamics work for ContiTech Beattie with close supervision from our engineering experts. This project has enabled the client to improve their understanding of a range of couplings, by a cost effective means through analysis.
“I am proud to be representing Wilde at the Contribution to Business Awards. I am really enjoying my time working within the consulting team at Wilde and I have gained valuable experience which will help me in my future career” comments David.
“David is a valued member of the consulting team here at Wilde, he has shown skill and enthusiasm in every project to which he has contributed. We all wish David every success and we are confident that he will do well in the Contribution to Business Awards competition” comments John Dennis, Technical Director at Wilde.
