The Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2006 Conference will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 12th to 15th of June 2006 around the theme “Cleaner, safer and smarter road transport for Europe“. TRA 2006 will focus on the implementation of the European Research Area in support of a sustainable, safer and more efficient road transport system in Europe. The event is organised jointly by the European Commission, ERTRAC (European Road Transport Research Advisory Council) and CEDR (Conference of European Directors of Roads).
The objective of the conference is to promote the strategic alignment of road transport research, bringing together all European road research stakeholders around a shared ‘Strategic Research Agenda’ (SRA).
Among other things, this means combining and coordinating European, national, regional and private research actions, improving networking and pooling research and development capacities. TRA 2006 will address an expected 1 500 industry and research managers, senior researchers, engineers and scientists, as well as representatives of public authorities from across Europe and around the world.
The conference will be complemented by a major exhibition showcasing how recent and future road research and technological development in Europe is supporting the conference theme. TRA 2006 will offer all stakeholders a unique opportunity to discuss strategies for the future of road transport in Europe.
The event comes at a key period leading up to the start of the 7th European Research Framework Programme (2007-2013) where the development of technologies for safer, more efficient and sustainable road transport is a top priority for our economy and the quality of life of our citizens.
