UGS Enhancements to PLM Portfolio

UGS has announced new applications related to its UGS Velocity Series portfolio of PLM solutions.

NX CAM Express
UGS announced the launch of NX CAM Express – a new computer-aided design (CAD) neutral, Numerical Control (NC) programming application that can be used independently, or as an integral part of the popular UGS Velocity Series portfolio of PLM solutions for the mid-market.

NX CAM Express will be sold in CAD neutral packages, aimed at key machining requirements, and offered as an integrated system with NX, UGS’ next-generation suite of integrated, fully associative CAD/CAM/CAE applications or Solid Edge software, UGS’ powerful 3D CAD software, allowing expansion into wider PLM solutions from UGS. It will also be offered as a modular solution, with packages designed to meet key opportunities such as high speed machining and programming multi-function mill-turns or five axis machines. When correctly utilized, these machines can offer significant improvements in machine shop efficiency or enable the machining of more complex parts. NX CAM Express can help customers to maximize the utilization of these advanced machines through built-in guidance on best practices and optimum machining methods.

Solid Edge Version 19
UGS announced Version 19 of Solid Edge software, its industry-leading, 3D computer-aided design (CAD) solution. With hundreds of enhancements, the new version delivers a cost effective design solution focused on innovation and collaboration for the entire global manufacturing value chain.

Solid Edge is a premier design-centric solution in the mid-range CAD industry, and a core component of the UGS Velocity Series portfolio.

Femap Version 9.2
UGS announced Version 9.2 of Femap software, its robust pre- and post-processing finite element modeling application. Femap is the finite element analysis (FEA) component of UGS’ mid-market portfolio, Velocity Series portfolio, the PLM industry’s comprehensive, preconfigured portfolio of digital product design, analysis and data management software.

Femap Version 9.2 offers in-depth finite element modeling functionality that allows access to advanced analysis solutions in a native Windows environment. Femap is also highly integrated with Nastran, to form a broad and comprehensive CAE solution.
