The first meeting of the newly founded NAFEMS Nordic Steering
Committee was held on April 14, 2005 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The
group consists of people from the engineering analysis community,
comprising a mixture of representatives from industry, research,
university, major software vendors and hardware vendors from
Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The function of this group is
to direct and control the strategy for delivering activities of
NAFEMS within the Nordic Countries.
As a result of this first meeting the NAFEMS Nordic Steering
Committee now announces the first NAFEMS seminar (conference) in
this region. The seminar topic will be “Component and System
Analysis Using Numerical Simulation Techniques – FEA, CFD,
MBS” and will be held 23rd – 24th November in
Gothenburg, Sweden. Contributions from industry, research and
university are welcome. The seminar will be accompanied by a
hardware and software exhibition. A “Call for Papers”
can be downloaded from the website www.nafems.org/nordic.
For the future it is planned to organize at least two seminars per
year and for their location to alternate between the different
countries. If you are interested in the NAFEMS Nordic activities or
in NAFEMS membership please contact us at nordic@nafems.org.
NAFEMS is an independent, not-for-profit membership organization.
The scope of its activities encompasses all simulation technology,
including Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
In line with its objectives, NAFEMS is continually seeking to
create awareness of new analysis methodologies, deliver education
and training, stimulate the adoption of best practices and promote
the effective use of technology by offering a platform for
continuous professional development. NAFEMS and its members are
involved in the application of many different types of engineering
simulation covering both products and processes. Membership exceeds
700 organisations in over 30 different countries and almost 60
member companies in the Nordic Countries.
