Experience:
• Image-based meshing:
Development of algorithms for surface and volume meshes based on 3D image data (e.g. MRI, CT, MicroCT). Software is currently being developed to automate the construction of FE , CFD and RP models from scan data, as well as the integration of CAD files into the original scan data.
• Biomechanics:
- Numerical modelling of head injury mechanisms and design and optimization of injury mitigating structures/environments (helmets, dashboards etc..).
- Numerical and experimental modelling of orthopaedic implants (hip and shoulder) under both static and dynamic loading conditions.
• Solid Mechanics:
- Elasticity theory: Novel thin, moderately thick and three dimensional shell theories are being developed.
- Experimental and numerical analysis of the response of composite structures to impact.
