GLview Express Writer

The GLview Express Writer is a file writer for export of models and results to VTF formatted files. It is delivered as an object library with C++ header files, suitable for integration with FEM based solvers and codes. The VTF file format is is supported by all GLview products.

The Express Writer enables developers of commercial and in-house CAE codes to utilize the free presentation tools GLview Express and GLview 3D Plugin. By using these products, CAE data can easily be shared across different HW and SW platforms without the need of installing licensed software.

Geometry models, result selections, animation settings, and various output options (e.g. draw modes wire frame, points, surfaces) are exported to a VTF file. Subsequently, these data can be visualized in GLview Express and GLview 3D PlugIn.

Deliverables
The Express Writer is delivered as a fully documented object library and C++ header files for Windows and most UNIX platforms. The object-oriented architecture is written in ANSI C++, providing high-level portability. The C++ header files come as obfuscated source code. Interface layers for access from FORTRAN and C are also available.

About the VTF file format
The VTF file format preserves all CAE model characteristics such as node and element numbering, element topology, and the original numerical results values. The VTF file can be distributed to colleagues, sub suppliers, partners, and management for review with the GLview Express Viewers, or alternatively read by the post-processor GLview Inova for further interpretation and analysis.
