Mimics

Mimics is a very powerfull tool for image processing and editing based on scanner data. Mimics translates a multitude of image modalities, including CT, MRI and MicroCT, into complete and accurate 3D models very easily and quickly and provides an interface with Rapid Prototyping (RP), Computer Aided Design (CAD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The software also provides a surgical simulation feature.

Mimics incorporates a very powerful remeshing utility to generate superior meshes for FEA and CFD. It allows the user to do image-based material assignment and export the mesh in the appropriate file format to any of the leading commercial finite element packages.

The combination of Mimics and 3-matic (another Materialise software) is a powerful tool in implant design, greatly reducing custom implant design time.
