AM Benchmarks Series Set to Announce Benchmark Challenges in February
Additive Manufacturing Benchmarks 2018 (AM-Bench 2018) is the first in a series of events focused on validating and improving the accuracy of model predictions and developing universally accepted quantitative measurement approaches for all additive manufacturing (AM) materials and methods. The 2018 meeting will take place from June 18-21, 2018 at the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Headquarters in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA. Visit www.tms.org/AMBench2018 for registration and housing information.
AM-Bench 2018 organizers are developing a continuing series of controlled benchmark tests that will enable modelers to test their simulations against rigorous, highly controlled additive manufacturing benchmark test data. Visit www.nist.gov/ambench for preliminary information and watch for the announcement of benchmark test details on February 20, 2018.
AM researchers, practitioners, end-users, modelers, and vendors are also invited to contribute to the program by submitting as abstract to the AM-Bench 2018 Benchmark Measurement and Modeling Symposium.
Specific topics include:
- Quantitative measurements and characterization;
- state-of-the-art models;
- end-user modeling needs;
- AM benchmark needs and directions.
Symposium abstracts are to be submitted at www.tms.org/AMBench2018 by March 1, 2018.
AM-Bench 2018 is sponsored by the Additive Manufacturing Committee, Process Technology and Modeling Committee, and Integrated Computational Materials Engineering Committee of The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS) in collaboration with NIST, the US Naval Research Laboratory, and the US Army Research Laboratory.
