Survey on Analysis and Simulation Education and Training Needs in the Power and Pressure Systems Industries

Readers may be interested in participating in an on-line survey aimed at establishing the education and training needs of staff involved in the growing use of finite element analysis and related analysis and simulation technologies, in the power and pressure systems industry.

This work is part of the CCOPPS Project (C ertification of Co mpetencies in the P ower and P ressure S ystems Industry), funded under the Leonardo da Vinci Programme. The Leonardo da Vinci programme aims to stimulate innovation and enhance the competitiveness of European industry, through development in the skills of the workforce. The project partners are the University of Strathclyde, CETIM, NAFEMS, University of Malta, University of Stuttgart and the University of Warsaw . The work is being carried out with the support of EPERC , the European Pressure Equipment Research Council.

In conjunction with industry, the project partners will produce an Educational Base consisting of statements of competence, which in turn will guide personal and staff development activities, as well as the development of effective modules for work-based learning. Plans are already underway for the development of 2 modules in the areas of:

Finite Element Analysis of Pressure System Components

Design by Analysis

The results of the survey will be made available to all respondents. In addition, as a further small reward for participating in this survey, everyone who supplies an e-mail address will be provided with a copy of the NAFEMS report R0071 “The Application of Finite Element Modelling to Pressure Vessel Design Codes”, which has a sale price of 292 Euro to non-members (37 Euros to members).

To complete the on-line questionnaire, please click on the following link www.ccopps.risk-technologies.com/surveyredirect.aspx?surveyid=68

This survey should take 15-20 minutes of your time to complete and must be completed in one session.

The focus of the questionnaire is the Power and Pressure Systems Industries in general and therefore embraces all sectors where pressurised equipment is utilised.
