Prospect Expands into Asia Pacific Region and Secures First Contract
Engineering design and analysis company Prospect has strengthened its international market presence with expansion into South-East Asia and has won its first contract in the region.
Prospect, the engineering division of integrated subsea service contractor Hallin Marine, has opened its doors in Singapore through a new Singaporean subsidiary, Prospect Asia Pte Ltd (“Prospect Asia”), adding to offices in: Aberdeen, Scotland; Derby, England; Houston, USA; and Stavanger, Norway. Prospect Asia consists of existing Prospect staff and Singapore recruited engineers who have received extensive training at Prospect’s Aberdeen headquarters.
Prospect’s Managing Director, Jonathan D’Arcy, said: ‘Adding a Singapore office gives us a growing presence in major oil and gas markets across the world. There is growing demand for our services in the Asian oil and gas market and we are now well positioned to serve clients who have operations in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, China and Australasia from our base in Singapore.’
Prospect Asia has been chosen by Atlantis Resources Corporation Pte Ltd (“Atlantis”) for the design contract of its green technology large tidal turbine. The contract will see Prospect Asia provide the engineering design and project management services required for detailed design of a scaled-up version of Atlantis’ existing 100kW deepwater subsea turbine.
Atlantis described Prospect as ‘an excellent match’ for the project, citing its ‘niche capabilities in hydrodynamics, marine engineering and computational mechanics (CFD and FEA) combined with its track record of innovative engineering.’
John Payne, Hallin’s group business development director, who has overseen the development of Prospect Asia, said: ‘Whilst the value of this contract is not significant to the Hallin Group in terms of value, we are now seeing the fruits of the extensive planning and development that went into expanding Prospect into Asia.
‘Prospect has a terrific reputation because of the outstanding work it has done in the USA and Western Europe and we have taken immense pains and time to ensure we will deliver that same combination of technical excellence, innovative engineering and great customer service in Asia Pacific.
‘Atlantis is a world leader in the generation of emission-free renewable energy, specifically in subsea turbines, and we are pleased to be supporting them on this important project.’
Atlantis’ Design Director, Luke Murray, said: ‘After recently running an exhaustive tender process to find a design partner for our latest Solon turbine, it was clear that Prospect, with their expertise across such a broad range of areas, would be ideally placed to offer us the specialist design support to complete a world beating MW sized tidal turbine.’
