Online Training for Simulation in the Process & Manufacturing Industries
Funding from the European Union's Leonardo da Vinci programme has enabled the production of a set of online training courses for numerical simulation in the process and manufacturing industries. Written by a consortium of eight partners from five European nations, the NumSimpmi training material has been targeted at four critical industrial themes: casting, forging, extrusion and stamping.
Computer simulation of these operations now offers enormous benefits in terms of reduced product lead times, energy savings, waste minimization and enhanced quality assurance. However, a major barrier to the adoption of this technology is often the lack of an adequate skill base within the companies concerned, and the aim of this project has been to address this.
The courses have been approved for Professional Development by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. In total 24 modules have been written, and these can be accessed at:
