PHYSICA Announce the Release of Magneto-Hydrodynamic Capability


PHYSICA has added a magneto-hydrodynamic capability to its market leading multi-physics solver. Using the electric potential and magnetic induction methods, PHYSICA has added another capability to the suite of solution routines which make it the first choice for serious multi-physics applications.

MHD finds applications in many areas, however weld pool simulation and continuous casting have already been the subject of PHYSICA studies. Plasma confinement, liquid metal cooling, solar wind and a host of other MHD dominated multi-physics scenarios can also now be simulated using PHYSICA.

The MHD enhancement follows the recent release of PHYSICA 3.0, which added vertex based finite volume flow solutions, Finite Element Solid Mechanics, Non-Newtonian flow models, and group based solution strategy.

PHYSICA is a fully parallel, multi-physics analysis program, written specifically to tackle complex and demanding problems. CFD capabilities are industry standard, however the multi-physics capability leads the field by some way. PHYSICA also features an open architecture approach allowing expert users to modify the algorithms for their own particular purposes, whilst retaining the power and accuracy of the core PHYSICA product.

PHYSICA has been widely used to solve problems in the following areas: Casting and solidification processes, Electronic manufacturing processes, Granular Flow, Welding, Forming processes (e.g. extrusion), Primary metals processing (e.g. direct smelting, heap leaching)
