NAFEMS World Congress 2009 - Day 1
David Quinn reports from Crete, Greece.
The 12th International Congress organised by NAFEMS had it's first full day of sessions today, with 216 participants from over 29 countries from around the globe.
The first day "proper" kicked off in style with invited presentations from four of the top names in the simulation software industry, namely, Jan Leuridan from LMS, Bruce Engelmann from Simulia, Alain de Rouvray of ESI, and Razi Sadeghi from MSC. Delegates had the unique opportunity to hear senior representatives from the top software vendors give their thoughts on the future of simulation in one location.
In a day packed with technical highlights, the afternoon Keynote, Marc Wiedemann from DLR, gave attendees an excellent insight into the challenges and developments with the aviation industry.
Afternoon sessions again provided a great variety of topics for delegates to choose from, focussing on materials, optimisation and integration.
In a discussion session which is sure to be unrivalled at any other event in the industry, the evening provided delegates with an opportunity to hear the thoughts of seven of the leading "CTO"'s from industry in a frank and open session which provided an excellent end to a productive first day at the congress.
Photographs, papers, presentations, video interviews and more from the Congress will be available on the website shortly, to ensure that even if you're not here in Crete, you can still get a flavour of the excellent technical content brought together by NAFEMS.
