NAFEMS Partners with Leading Vendors for e-learning

As part of the continued expansion and development of our training offering, NAFEMS are pleased to announce that the upcoming e-learning class on Structural Optimization in FE Analysis will offer attendees the chance to trial software from the leading vendors in the field.

David Quinn, Head of Marketing & Communications at NAFEMS, commented, "Although our e-learning classes are strictly vendor-neutral and require no software to participate, feedback from attendees has raised the point that it may be useful to "try-out" different software packages when completing 'homework' assignments for the classes. We are delighted to have been able to negotiate with the software vendor community in order to provide trial versions of some of the leading software in the area for attendees on the classes."

Tony Abbey, NAFEMS Training Manager, added "This initiative provides e-learning delegates with a unique opportunity to try out the methodology, even if they do not currently have access to an FE Solver or Optimizer. Through working with leading vendors, we can ensure that course attendees have an opportunity to put the theory into practice using a variety of tools, some of which they would not normally have access to."

Upon registering for the class, attendees will be given access to a class "discussion board", where links to download the software will be given.

Currently, the following vendors are participating in this initiative:

•             Phoenix Integration

•             MSC.Software

•             Siemens

•             NEi Software

•             Red Cedar

Course Overview - Structural Optimization in FE Analysis

The objective of this course is show you a broad overview of the range of FEA based tools available and what the methods and specializations of each encompass. Plentiful hints and tips will demonstrate powerful ways to use these methods. The goal is to achieve meaningful structural optimization in support of the most effective products.

This course is aimed at practicing engineers who wish to learn more about how to apply the various optimization methods available to FEA structural analysis in the most effective manner.

The material that is presented is independent of any particular software package, making it ideally suited to current and potential users of all commercial finite element software systems.

Registration for the course, which commences on Thursday July 12th, is still available here.

Note to Vendors – Please contact if you wish to be added to the list.
