Senior R&D Engineer, Head of CAE and Simulations
Ryobi Die Casting, USA
Since 2000 he has been working for Exco Engineering as a research & development engineer. His work covers the conceptual design of die casting die system, process development and new technology exploration, which includes flow analysis CFD simulation, thermal analysis CFD simulation/thermal inspection, structural FEA & optimization, fatigue analysis and beyond. At Exco he developed a practical Concurrent CAE (Multi-level Simulations) Approach for die casting die system design from up-front casting engineering, tooling key parametric design & optimization to die casting process optimization, which makes the simulation-driven engineering a reality and significantly improves product development efficiency and quality. He also presented a systematic analysis & design method of Vacuum Die Casting Process for Structural Components, which has been widely accepted in the industry.
Dr. Changhua (Joshua) Huang earned his Ph.D. and M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from The State Key Lab of Mechanical Transmission, Chongqing University, China. He received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (with specialty in Off-Road Vehicle Engineering) from ChangAn University, China. In 1993 his career started as an associate professor at Tsinghua University with research interests in mechanical system design, tribological design, computational mechanics, biomechanical system and rehabilitation engineering. He has published over 30 technical papers, two patents and co-authored one book. In 2014 he received The Best Paper Award by NADCA (North America Die Casting Association).
He is currently a member of NAFEMS Americas Steering Committee, one of founding members of NAFEMS Manufacturing Process Simulation Working Group and a member of the NADCA Computer Modeling Working Group.
