NAFEMS is the International Association for the Engineering Modelling, Analysis and Simulation Community. It is a not-for-profit membership organization which was established in 1983. Today, over 1,500 organisations from around the world belong to NAFEMS. The association is supported by a small team of staff, headquartered in the UK, along with staff representatives in various other countries.
NAFEMS runs various committees formed of technical experts who volunteer their time. The staff work with them to generate best practice guidance, and run training courses, conferences, and various other events. The role of the NAFEMS Technical Officer is to help develop, deliver and maintain the technical output of NAFEMS. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer in the UK, this position provides the opportunity to work alongside the internationally recognised experts who make up the 18 Technical Working Groups NAFEMS currently operates.
This position is open to international applicants although preference will be given to UK based candidates.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have 5-10 years of industry experience in the field of engineering simulation. Applicants should have indepth knowledge of at least one specific simulation domain e.g. Computational Fluid Dynamics/Multibody Dynamics/Computational Structural Mechanics/Computational Electromagnetics. The candidate must be able to translate their current knowledge to adjacent areas of simulation where they may have little experience.
The role requires an individual with the ability to navigate group dynamics and work in a positive, enthusiastic manner with the communities of volunteers. The successful candidate will be able to build and maintain strong relationships with senior level engineers and technical specialists. The candidate should be articulate and be capable of presenting and writing in a manner that clearly communicates ideas. The role requires a strong understanding of the values and objectives of NAFEMS.
The ideal candidate will have obtained a Masters Degree in engineering or a related science discipline. The candidate should have obtained (or be close to obtaining) professional status such as PE/CEng.
