Calculating Fatigue from CAE
This 3 hour workshop is aimed at engineers who have a general understanding of fatigue, from either theory or from test, but would like to understand how fatigue calculations can be performed using Finite Element results. It is assumed that attendees are familiar with the general concepts of Finite Element Analysis, although no particular software package is used.
Workshop topics will include:
- A general refresher of basic fatigue methods and the terms and concepts used
- Fatigue analysis types from simple constant amplitude to complex multi-axial real world loading, covering Finite Element Analysis with linear, non-linear and dynamic structural responses
- Real world issues such as fatigue scatter and discussion of comparisons between Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and test results
- A brief demonstration using nCode DesignLife software with an opportunity to try the software out first hand
