2D Slope Stability Analysis with DIANA Finite Element Analysis

The main objective of this e-learning event is to introduce the capability within DIANA finite element analysis to perform a slope stability analysis using the Strength Reduction Method.

Expected learning outcomes include:

An understanding of how to:

Apply self-weight and other loads (when present) and carrying out a nonlinear static analysis until an equilibrium state is reached

Apply the strength reduction method and run this analysis via an iterative process to determine the Factor of Safety (FoS)

Gain an understanding of the cohesion C and the tangent of friction angle tanφ which is reduced by dividing those values by the factor until the loss of stability or failure occurs.
