This 6-modules online course focuses on the application of the finite element method in structural analysis of (reinforced) concrete structures. Particular focus is placed upon nonlinear analysis of (reinforced) concrete structures, with emphasis on crack modelling and failure analysis. Delegates will learn good practice in nonlinear finite element analysis and also the criteria for choosing among different crack models available, convergence criteria and the setting of corresponding parameters.
Module I-2: Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis in DIANA (€300)
- Background of non-linear FEA (Linear vs nonlinear)
- Type of nonlinearities (Geometric nonlinearity, Material nonlinearity)
- Solution procedures for nonlinear FEA
- Convergence criteria
- Guidelines for NLFEA
- Exercise: Snap through buckling of a hinged panel (insight)
Competencies: after completing this session, you will be able to perform a nonlinear static analysis in DIANA and have understanding on the different solution procedures and benefits.
