Online Training: Earthquake analysis with DIANA
This session illustrates the procedures adopted in DIANA for analysing structural behaviour resulting from earthquake loads.
After consideration of the background theory, a case study of a masonry building, in the northern part of the Netherlands, is used to show the different functionality available in DIANA for modelling such a problem. This functionality includes: RSA (linear), Pushover and Time History analysis.
In the specific case of masonry, the connections of the specific building parts are relevant. Another key aspect is how the material properties are modeled and how to comply with the EC8 and the new Dutch Annex 9998. Related new functionality in the upcoming DIANA release will also be outlined.
