What Autonomous Driving means for Thermal Management & EV Performance
This web seminar focuses on the potential impacts of upcoming autonomous driving features will have on the system design and performance of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
We will explore these effects through system simulation with a model that can evaluate the impact of vehicle acceleration, battery power consumption, and driving range under different driving profiles. In addition, thermal subsystems will be specifically investigated including motor, transmission, and power inverter module cooling. From these thermal models, we will then be able to investigate design changes that may be required such as resizing of pumps or heat exchangers. Using system simulation enables these investigations and trade-off studies to be done early in the design process before any physical vehicles have been constructed for real world testing.
