NAFEMS UK Conference 2016
Engineering Simulation: The Future Begins Today
June 15-16 2016 | Telford, UK
NAFEMS is the only independent, international organisation dedicated solely to the engineering analysis, modelling & simulation community. Our sole purpose is to bring together all those involved in analysis and simulation from every industry, and engage with them in order to advance their knowledge, give their organisations a competitive advantage, and improve the technology itself.
Since its formation in 1983, NAFEMS has had it's roots in the UK, and we are proud to have held the 2016 NAFEMS UK Conference, which took place in Telford on the 15th and 16th of June 2016.
The very essence of NAFEMS is the open-forum it provides to every end-user, every academic, and every software vendor. The 2016 UK conference built upon previous events, giving attendees a vital insight into industry trends, common issues, and best-practice.
There is simply no other event which provides this independent vision at a local level, backed-up by the strength that an international organisation spanning almost every country in the world affords.
The two-day conference, held at the birth-place of the industrial revolution, revolutionised the way attendees work with simulation, the way they viewed day to day challenges, and the place that simulation has in their organisation.
Covering all aspects of the technology including FEA, CFD & MBS, the event focussed heavily on best-practice, use cases, state of the art, problem areas, developing fields and much, much more.
Topics covered will included;
- Material technologies
- Coupled & Multi-physics
- High Performance Computing (HPC)
- Uncertainty Quantification (UQ)
- Verification & Validation(V&V)
- Simulation Process & Data Management (SPDM)
- Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
We are pleased to provide a copy of the final agenda for the 2015 event!

The conference therefore featured several sessions on the recently completed SimBest project, giving delegates a unique insight into the issues surrounding best practice in the use of simulation and modelling tools for engineering design.
NAFEMS coordinated an interview survey with industry to determine industrial best practice and discover:
- Areas where new users can learn from experienced ones,
- Potential learning areas across the sectors and worked with GE/AlstomPower who coordinated the academic-industrial gap analysis in defining
- Areas requiring further development in order to maintain the continual progress of experienced users.
