Multidisciplinary Design Optimization for Additive Manufacturing Repair

Multidisciplinary Design Optimization for Additive Manufacturing Repair

January 31, 2024 – 10AM and 3PM
Duration: 30 minutes

This age of environmental responsibility, developing a circular economy is no longer simply a good idea—but it’s a necessity. The circular economy aims to reduce material use by preventing losses in the product lifecycle and proposes recovery strategies to extend the usage of technical nutrients at their end-of-life (EoL) to create more sustainable consumption and production patterns. Current product development overlooks EoL performance in the conceptual design stage, and postpones it to later stages of development, often resulting in unsustainable EoL scenarios such as landfilling. In this webinar, we are going discuss to how to expeditate and enhance the implementation of additive manufacturing (AM) repair EoL strategy into a product’s conceptual design using multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) in Optimus, an automation and optimization tool by Noesis Solutions.

In this webinar, we will discuss:
1. Implementing an additive manufacturing remake strategy in the early stages of the design process. using multidisciplinary design optimization with Optimus.
2. A case-study to showcase the process and explains the key role of data in the production cost, damage simulation behavior, AM remake cost and the aesthetic performance of the design.

Speakers:
* Christine Schwarz, Product Owner – Optimus, Noesis Solutions
* Talal Akkaoui, M.Sc, Delft University of Technology
