Altair releases Simulation 2022.2 software update

Computational science and artificial intelligence (AI) business Altair has announced the latest updates to its simulation portfolio, Simulation 2022.2. The new updates, which build on the previous enhancements in Simulation 2022.1, improve Altair’s cloud elasticity and scalability, and its electrification and product development capabilities.

Simulation 2022.2 delivers an enhanced Altair One experience by giving users flexible access to solutions, applications, data and compute, enabling them to launch tools such as Altair HyperMesh, HyperView, SimLab and Inspire in browsers or on a desktop/laptop.

Altair One is a turnkey marketplace that connects users – from any device at any time – to their solutions, data, teams and compute infrastructure. Users can submit solver jobs covering structural, thermal and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and high/low-frequency electromagnetics disciplines in the company’s scalable, elastic cloud infrastructure. This makes it easier for businesses with limited IT and high-performance computing (HPC) resources to meet budgets and customer demand.

The self-service design enables users to create pre-configured HPC appliances via a simple button click. They can create these private appliances using their preferred cloud provider, enabling them to utilize the best compute hardware to run simulation solvers and applications that can be run on GPU nodes to visualize fluid dynamics or bulk and granular material simulations.

Additional updates within Simulation 2022.2 allow product teams to work together on all aspects of electronic systems, printed circuit board, firmware and 5G connectivity development in a connected, end-to-end environment to reach end goals more quickly. Tighter integration between Altair Flux, FluxMotor, SimLab and Material Data Center also features to help users streamline workflows and provide advanced modeling capabilities, electrical system design exploration and optimization, and faster acoustic and thermal flow analysis. Debugging and post-production servicing updates are also available with Altair EEvision for electronic system design.

In Simulation 2022.2, integration has been improved between Altair simulation products for streamlined project management and reduced lead times.

Following the recent update, HyperWorks, HyperMesh, Altair Pulse and HyperWorks CFD have all been improved. These improvements include better modeling analysis through low- and no-code design and engineering tools, reduced pre- and post-processing lead times, improved surface modeling, integrated solver and dashboard capabilities and expanded fluid topology optimization coupled with AcuSolve and EDEM. HyperWorks has been augmented with AI to enhance the modeling experience with automated part identification, characterization and grouping, in addition to geometry feature recognition and management for use in downstream processes and further end-user recommendations.
