How to Build the Credibility of Engineering Simulations

Underlying engineering assessment in all disciplines is simulation; which is the process by which a physical entity or process is represented mathematically. In this context, numerical simulation is any process from basic hand calculation, (which includes the use of tools such as Mathcad and Excel); through to processes that are solving highly non-linear multi-physics systems using high powered multi-processor computer systems. Engineers use these tools to examine behaviours, develop, and test possible design configurations. This is the process of virtual prototyping.
