Curriculum Innovation to Meet the Growing Demand for Simulation Talent

Abstract

Simulation has become a key technology enabling advances in advanced vehicles.  This success as driven a demand for new graduates that have improved capabilities in simulation.  The Ohio State University Simulation Innovation Center (SIMCenter) is partnering with academic units to help shape these graduates through a wide number of academic programs and unique research experiences.  This presentation will provide an overview of this multi-faceted approach with some specific examples of traditional classroom education, experiential learning activities, and teaching through research.


Biography

Prof. Shawn Midlam-Mohler is the Director of the Ohio State University Simulation Innovation and Modeling Center and an associate professor in mechanical and aerospace engineering.  His research interests are in the area of system modeling, applied controls, and systems engineering.  He has over one hundred patents and peer-reviewed publications and his research focus is in the area of advanced automotive systems.  He teaches a range of courses covering design, simulation, project management, and system engineering.
