One of the major challenges in multiphysics is the coupling of different physical domains. Mathematics, numerics and computational strategies need to be selected carefully. Physics can operate at different rates and scales, using different solvers that can lead to numerical and physical instabilities.

This webinar will focus on the coupling of structural dynamics and acoustics (aka vibroacoustics). There is a wide range of products that need this coupling. Of course, we all might think on a loudspeaker first, but there are lots of noise engineering applications in the automotive industry, in aerospace and defense, the marine industry, in machinery and industrial equipment, and with consumer products (e.g. home appliances).

The coupling of physical domains is not a straightforward task and clearly requires benchmarking. The main purpose of benchmarking is to measure and compare performance, processes, or metrics against competitors or industry best practices to identify performance gaps and drive continuous improvement.

We will show the generation and execution of a benchmark case for vibroacoustics. The general principles will be explained in detail, so that it can be used as a guideline for a wide range of coupling problems, not limited to vibroacoustics.
