Introduction to Elastic–Plastic Analysis

Introduction to Elastic–Plastic Analysis

Introduction to Elasto-Plastic Analysis

This course introduces the fundamental concepts of elastic–plastic finite element analysis (FEA), including the bilinear elastoplastic material model and the isotropic and kinematic hardening rules for cyclic loading. Worked examples demonstrate the differences between these hardening rules and highlight the practical value of running this type of non-linear analysis.

The course is ideal for beginners in non-linear FEA with an interest in the strength assessment of structural steel components.

This course was reviewed by the members of the Computational Structural Mechanics Working Group.
