SimBest Project Activities

SimBest Project Activities

During the project a couple of different activities took place:

  1. A presentation of the SimBest project was delivered by Webex in June 2015 and a video playback may be viewed. Alternatively the SimBest project PDF presentation may be downloaded.

  2. A State of the Art workshop was jointly organised by EPSRC and KTN and was held in Birmingham on 25 June 2015. Plenary presentations and many group discussions were held discussing the academic State of the Art.

  3. The SimBest project results were presented at the Museum for Science and Industry (MOSI) in Manchester on 25 February 2016 to 130 attendees from academia and industry:

    • The event was introduced by Lynne McGregor of InnovateUK providing a project description and objectives
    • Following this Gino Duffett of NAFEMS presented the Best Practice outcomes based on the interviews carried out with industrial companies.
    • Then Nigel Rix provided information on the State of the Art evaluation
    • Based on this information Nadir Ince of GE/AlstomPower presented the Gap analysis between the Best Practice and State of the Art. During the event there were two breakout sessions: during the morning four sector-oriented groups discussed the issues presented with respect the respective sectors and during the afternoon technology-oriented groups discussed the issues with respect to the relevant technical areas.
    • The event was closed by a plenary discussion monitored by Lynne McGregor who then presented some final community ideas.
