  1. The Evolving World of Simulation

The Evolving World of Simulation Webinar Presentation (PDF) I Webinar Recording (WebEx) Note: The presentation and recording are only available to NAFEMS members. Overview Simulation is changing how we design and bring products to market, creating competitive advantages for companies that take advantage of these advances. We’ll talk about what happened in 2022 and what we can expect for 2023 — and ask essential questions to help you navigate these changes. This webinar was available for free to the engineering analysis community, as part of NAFEMS' efforts to bring the community together online. About our speaker Monica Schnitger - President and Principal Analyst, Schnitger Corporation...more

  2. Simulation Data Management

Simulation Data Management Making the Data Work A hard-drive full of spreadsheets is the new paperwork filled filing-cabinet. Collating, managing, storing and reusing simulation data is key to successfully seeing the benefits of analysis and simulation throughout your organization. Knowing what you need, how to implement it, and how to get users to engage with it is vital for any system to succeed, and the benefits are substantial. NAFEMS is leading the way in examining best practice in simulation data management, and in providing users with the knowledge to choose, implement and review their tools and processes. Remember back in the day when a few gigs of disk space was a serious cost that...more

  3. Start Your Engines! Talking Hypercar Simulation

Start Your Engines! Talking Hypercar Simulation with Ivan Krajinović of Rimac Automobili 5-minute read David Quinn - September 9th 2021 Dr. Ivan Krajinović is Simulations Manager at Rimac, the electric hypercar manufacturer based in Croatia. He leads the Simulation department, which is responsible for structural, electrical and thermal simulations of different components of the electric powertrain, working on major projects, like the development of the Nevera (C_TWO) electric hypercar. We discussed his upcoming keynote at the CAE in the Automotive Industry symposium, part of the NAFEMS World Congress 2021 . Ivan gave us an insight into how he got started as a simulation engineer, what...more

  4. Strategies for Deploying Expert and Casual CAE Tools

Strategies for Deploying Expert and Casual CAE Tools NAFEMS Webinar Series View webinar slides (PDF) (NAFEMS Members) Abstract CAD vendors often maintain that a CAD-based approach driven by CAD designers will expand the use of CAE throughout the engineering organization. Meanwhile, experienced CAE analysts understand that casual CAE users without rigorous engineering knowledge are unlikely to be able to realize meaningful results. We contend that engineering organizations should deploy CAE to optimize their engineering process, and that CAE should be used as much as practicable. However, success is not guaranteed by mere software acquisition. Engineering organizations must foster an environment...more

  5. 2020 Conference on Advancing Analysis & Simulation in Engineering (CAASE20)

2020 Conference on Advancing Analysis & Simulation in Engineering (CAASE20) Missed the Live Virtual Conference? Not to worry. All of the conference presentations, with the exception of training courses, are still available on the virtual conference platform until mid-July 2020. During this time, we will be migrating all of the content over to the NAFEMS Resource Center to ensure NAFEMS members will have access to all of the excellent contributions delivered during this event. NAFEMS Americas and Digital Engineering (DE) teamed up ( once again ) to present CAASE, the ( now Virtual ) Conference on Advancing Analysis & Simulation in Engineering, on June 16-18, 2020! CAASE20 brought together...more

  6. Impact of a Strong AC Electromagnetic Field on a Conductor Mesh: Design Guidelines and Safety Assessment

Abstract To design installation close to high-power AC electromagnetic device, a prediction of the electromagnetic coupling may be mandatory. The present device is composed of different high current multi-turn coils located near the installation, a conductor mesh. At first, the interactions between the different coils are assessed. The Maxwell-Ampère equation is solved through the magnetic vector potential formulation. Thanks to this potential, the magnetic induction field is deduced together with the induced current in the coils. Using a superposition principle, it is possible to build the coupling matrix which describes the self-inductance of each coil and the mutual inductances linking the...more

  7. Unlocking the Potential of Simulation and Modelling in your Organization

The NAFEMS UK Conference 2022 (NRC22 UK) took place in Milton Keynes on June 7th & 8th bringing end-users, developers, academics and industrialists together in one, independent gathering, the conference will feature several outstanding invited presentations, technical tracks, training courses and workshops under one roof. There is no other independent, technically focused event covering engineering analysis, modelling and simulation The NRC22 UK brought together all those involved in analysis and simulation from every corner of industry and academia, giving an opportunity to advance their knowledge, give their organisation a competitive advantage, and be part of improving the technology itself....more
