Metal forming simulations are increasingly adopted by manufacturers to improve the quality and performance of products and processes while shortening development cycles so that these products can be brought to market earlier. Successful simulation of metal forming processes requires a range of input data about the geometry of the workpiece and tooling, the process forces and tooling motion and, above all, the characteristics of the workpiece material. The accuracy of the results depend on having a good understanding of this input data. In this webinar we introduce manufacturing process simulation methods for a range of metal forming operations and then review the material characterisation requirements...more
Exploding Dough And Fun With Carrots by Tony Abbey, FE Training Welcome to my first blog for NAFEMS and an unusual title. It has been a very busy two weeks travelling and teaching the NAFEMS “Introduction to FEA” class in the UK and Holland. As usual each class was very different - depending on the background of the client company and the individuals attending. Both classes were fun, I always enjoy meeting fellow engineers and talking about FEA and engineering. Two or three days working with a group gives a great opportunity to find out about everyone’s background, what aspects of analysis they are involved with and the engineering behind the products or process. It is a privilege to have...more

Presentation made by J. L. D. L. Gandaraat the NAFEMS Spain Seminar "Verification & Validation - Building Confidence in Simulation for Engineering Design" that was held in Madrid, Spain on the 18th of February 2016. Seminar Description It is becoming increasingly important these days that engineering simulation used for design answers the question: how do we know that the results are reasonably correct? The important quality assurance tools used to answer this are the processes of verification and validation and these need to be applied to the conceptual, mathematical and computational models used in engineering simulation. In simple terms verification is the demonstration that the mathematics...more
Sponsorship Join us NAFEMS would like to extend an invitation to your company to be part of this conference focused on delivering information and insights on critical topic areas related to engineering simulation. Sponsorship of "Confidence in Engineering Simulation: The Next 10 Years of CAE in Mexico," offers a unique opportunity for maximum exposure to a highly targeted audience of delegates, who are all directly involved in engineering analysis and simulation. Team with NAFEMS As the International Association for the Engineering, Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Community, NAFEMS is widely recognized as the leading independent source of information and training for engineering analysts...more
How To Use STEP Geometry for Engineering Analysis Due to the evolving nature of the engineering analysis and simulation market this publication no longer represents current best practice and has been archived. The document may be of historical interest and is therefore still available for purchase This guide is aimed at system managers who are implementing and supporting data exchange by purchasing STEP interfaces and users who want to communicate with customers and/or suppliers about using STEP for data exchange. The guide covers: What STEP interfaces are available What the parts and conformance classes cover How to choose which part and conformance class...more
Renewal Any assessment resulting in certification has limited currency. When granted, certification is valid for a period of three years. Three years from the date of certification individuals who are registered PSE will be contacted by the PSE Administrator and asked if they would like to remain on the PSE Register. Candidates have three options: Candidates who wish to remain on the PSE Register and maintain their existing Technical Areas and level of certification are required to submit a PSE renewal form and confirm how they are maintaining their Continuing Professional Development. Candidates who wish to remain on the PSE Register and extend their range of Technical Areas or level of...more

Essentials of Injection Molding Physics Access seminar webpage Deep dive into injection molding science The seminar will delve into the intricate phenomena associated with the injection molding process. It will place a significant emphasis on comprehending the issues related to parts (such as appearance, shrinkage, warpage, weld lines, burns, etc.), and how these issues correlate with the properties of materials (whether amorphous, semi-crystalline, filled, or unfilled) and the molding process itself. The seminar will not fit the needs of beginners in the field. Where we'll meet The seminar is scheduled for the 5th and 6th of September 2024 at the Hotel Crown Piast in Kraków, Poland. The...more
