Work on the VMAP vendor-neutral engineering data standard for CAE data storage used to enhance interoperability in virtual engineering workflows has continued both on a technical level and on a legal level since the VMAP project completion. The project was also very pleased to win the ITEA Award of Excellence 2021 in Standardisation, one of the reasons being that using VMAP should increase innovation speed by 50% and reduce setup time for virtual process chains by 40%. This webinar aims to inform the sector of the progress achieved over this period.

The potential agenda is

  • Introduction & Welcome [NAFEMS, 5 min]
  • VMAP SC: Legal association timeline and organisation [Fraunhofer SCAI, 5 min]
  • VMAP Standard: Technical Overview and Updates [Fraunhofer SCAI, 10 min]
  • VMAP Standard: Technical Working Groups [Robert Bosch, 10 min]
  • Associated Projects [Fraunhofer SCAI, 20 min]:

VMAP Analytics [SWERIM] - VMAP analytics drives industrial manufacturing using Smart digital twins.

LeBeDigital [BAM] - Life cycle of concrete: ontology development for the concrete production process chain.

German Aerospace Center [DLR] - Integrating the VMAP Standard in their in-house solver.

  • Q & A [NAFEMS, 10 min]

This webinar is available for free to the engineering analysis community, as part of NAFEMS' efforts to bring the community together online.

The VMAP Standards Community (VMAP SC) is open to all interested parties who wish to use or contribute to the standardization efforts of the association. To date there are many confirmed members, including manufacturing companies (Philips, Reden, Robert Bosch), engineering companies (Convergent, 4a, Hagen, Part Engineering) software companies (Beta, DynaMore, Simcon and Transvalor) and university R&D institutes (Fraunhofer SCAI, KIT) and associations (NAFEMS), including a huge list of informal contacts and potential members. Any entity or person wishing to get involved should please send their contact.
