Abstract

Open Discussion

The oil & gas industry continues to endure dramatic changes in the price of oil and gas and great uncertainty in the balance of supply and demand for its products.  Nevertheless, a constant reality of the industry is the technology, and engineering will continue to be a factor in the evolution of the oil and gas business. Simulation with FEA, CFD, and other computational methods will continue to alter and shape the designs and execution of energy projects in both the upstream, midstream, and downstream markets.  Last year’s panel at the NAFEMS Engineering Analysis & Simulation in the Oil & Gas Industry event discussed the concept of “on-demand, simulation in the cloud" as one change that might help the industry lower its costs and shorten project schedules.  This year, NAFEMS has a slate of presenters, both new and returning, as well new attendees, who will lead the discussion of other steps that can be taken in the realm of engineering analysis and simulation to allow companies to thrive amidst the current market.
