Electromagnetic Simulation in Naval Platforms

We all understand that product development is becoming more challenging due to stricter regulations and reduced development times for prototyping and testing. The trend has been to replace physical prototyping with more numerical simulation prototyping, continually improving the accuracy by including more effects and phenomena. Over the last years the addition of more electronics into new products is making their design more challenging and sensitive to electromagnetic phenomena as the number of electronic, electrical and communication systems rapidly grow in all industries.

This seminar focussed on electromagnetic modeling and simulation, including both high and low frequency phenomena, looking at applications from antenna design and integration, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), radar cross section (RCS), RF and microwave devices and wave propagation modelling, electromagnetic actuators, etc.

Industrial studies showing the usage and advantages/disadvantages of these simulations in relevant applications and sectors were presented in order to create awareness and enhance our inter-sector discussion, collaboration and learning.
