Demand for the systematic integration of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) in product development methods, product release and design standards, and product release processes has increased significantly in recent times. M&S also now plays a pivotal role in driving virtualization. With this growth in reliance on M&S in engineering design decision-making, the question of the credibility of M&S solutions has also increased in importance.
Through a presentation of the Robert Bosch (RB) credibility of a simulation framework, the webinar details an approach that lays the foundation for modern, fully virtual, and efficient product development by creating the necessary basis of credibility for the widespread use of numerical simulations in decision-making and approval processes.
The framework is designed to establish a common understanding across diverse domains and products, providing a unified generic approach.
In this webinar, we;
“Simulation Credibility Assessment,” white paper- joint publication by the SmartSE – Smart Systems Engineering project group authored by Robert Bosch GmbH, ZF, and UNITY as consortium partners of the SmartSE project group.
The paper is an investigation of practical methodological approaches for determining and evaluating the simulation credibility of numerical simulations to be performed in the context of cross-company, model- and simulation-based development, as already used today in the automotive industry.
Broadly applicable and not automotive specific, the approach defines clear, practice-oriented minimum requirements for the quality and validation of simulations with the M&S Credibility Levels (M&S CL 1–4) according to the Purpose of Simulation:
The “M&S Credibility Level” serves as a comprehensible, qualitative evaluation criterion, and a link between product managers and decision-makers on the one hand and simulation engineers on the other. Additionally, an equivalent credibility assessment is defined for each “M&S Credibility Level” to give an orientation to the end-user about the VV&UQ activities to be performed for each level.
