2020 NAFEMS Student Award Winners announced

 

student awardGlasgow, UK, March 17th 2021, - NAFEMS, the International Association for the Engineering Analysis, Modelling and Simulation Community, is pleased to announce the winners for the 2020 NAFEMS Student Award Series for DACH, the UK, the Americas and Nordic Regions.

The awards' aim is to raise the status of Simulation Engineering education, as well as to encourage research among students in any simulation engineering discipline.

“It’s great to see the next generation of simulation engineers from all over the world taking part in the NAFEMS Student Awards at this time,” commented Tim Morris, NAFEMS CEO. “This new student accolade emphasisesthe importance the future generation has in responding to the challenges that the world faces, and we are glad to be able to support their work.”

Every year, NAFEMS hopes to recognise the best work of Simulation Engineering Students. The programme aims to encourage students to remain in the engineering simulation field and to provide support to graduates as they make important career choices.

  • Winner: “Tubular Flow Reactor App” by Vasilios Halkias, New Jersey Institute of Technology

 

NAFEMS DACH Award winners with the kind support of Mvoid Group

  • 1st prize: Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Powder Material inside Additive Manufactured Particle Dampers by G. Hauenstein, Hochschule Luzern
  • 2nd prize: Development and Integration of the Nagel-Schreckenberg Model for a CFD Solver to Simulate the Pollutant Dispersion in an Urban Area by A. Wellmann, TU Braunschweig

 

NAFEMS Nordic Student Award with the kind support of FS Dynamics

The winners of the award:

  • 1st prize: Analysis of the Flow of Secondary Steam through a Reheater using 3D CFD by I. Lindell, by KTH
  • 2nd prize: Structural Optimization of Mechanical Systems - Topology Optimization with Parametrization of Hardpoint Positions byA. Mattiasson, Chalmers University

 

NAFEMS UK and IMechE Student Award:

  • 1st Prize to ‘Simulation of Peristalsis’ by G.Creed, The University of Surrey
  • 2nd Prize to ‘Evaluating the Potential for Simulation of Formula Student Events in IPG CarMaker’ by J. Jamison, Queens University Belfast
